Established in 2006 by our Founder Juergen Epple, it is our oldest office and started the Posthorax Success Story. The business quickly developed into a player in the Cardiac Surgery field. Between 2007 and 2013 Mr. Epple developed the final design of the vest and started 13 clinical trials in 7 countries with over 12,000 patients included in the studies, to prove its efficiency. The Posthorax vest is patented worldwide,

The design of the vest was developed in the Bio-Mechanical Institute in the Vienna University Clinic under Prof. Manfred Bijack in 2007, to make sure the pressure and fixation was just the right one.

During the numerous prototypes and tests, the product was produced in Kremsmünster, Austria by Mr. Rudolf Hujber. He is still producing the Posthorax Heart Vest to guarantee Austrian quality of finish and material.

Once the design was firm and the pressure testing was complete, the Hietzing Heart Center started the first clinical trial under Prof. Dr. Michael Gorlitzer. The trial was very successful and the first International presentation of the product was held at the Congress of European Cardio-Thoracic Surgery in Lisbon, Portugal in 2008. This started the worldwide expansion.

The Vienna Heart Center Hietzing utilises the Posthorax stabilisation on all their patients ever since.

In 2009 the Vienna Heart Center Hietzing won with the Posthorax Vest the prestigious INNOVATION AWARD 2009 from the City of Vienna for outstanding success in patient care.
