The ThoraxBelt is an excellent tool to stimulate diaphragm breathing used to handle pleural effusion (water on the lungs) and atelectasis. (Do Not Use With CABG patients)
Diaphragm breathing (belly breathing) ventilates the lower lobes of the lung on each side. By this "exercise", the lung is capable of re-absorbing liquid and the problem could be solved conservatively without placing painful drains to drain the water to the outside.
It is NOT used for CABG patients since the belt would force sideways pressure on the sternum halves and that would produce MORE pain - pressure on a fracture is very painful.
This unique specialist product is made from breathable micro fabric and optimises the surface tension around wounds caused by operations or injuries.
The extremely thin, inflexible fabric is laser-cut and seam-free for comfort and acts like an extra layer of skin.
The Thorax Belt is "breathable" due to the respiratory mechanism integrated into closure mechanism! The slight pressure however stimulates the diaphragm breathing.
